Source ingest
Membership listings from Professional Liverpool, Liverpool Chamber, Liverpool Law Society and ICAEW are consolidated into one firm record, keeping every source it appeared in.
Website enrichment
Each firm website is fetched and parsed for a UK postcode, contact email, phone number and meta description. This is the layer that becomes a scheduled scraper.
Geocoding
Extracted postcodes are resolved to coordinates and local authority via the Postcodes.io API, filtered to Liverpool City Region postcode districts.
Capability tagging
Firms are classified into a three-level taxonomy — sector, core service, specialist service — and mapped onto plain-language customer needs, with each link marked confirmed or likely so gaps stay visible.

How this framework is applied to every listing
Every firm page shows the same four data-quality scores. They are calculated by the same rules across all records, so you can compare listings at a glance and see where more research is needed.
Profile
Tells you how complete the contact and descriptive information is.
- Enriched
- Website crawled successfully and contact details (address, email, phone or summary) extracted.
- Partially enriched
- Some contact or summary fields added manually or from partial sources, but not fully verified from the website.
- Imported
- Only the original membership-list record is available; no website enrichment or manual enhancement yet.
Classification
Shows how the firm was matched to sectors, core services and customer needs.
- Auto mapped
- Matched automatically using keyword rules against the firm name, summary, original source data and scraped website text.
- Unmapped
- No clear taxonomy match yet. The firm is listed but not connected to sectors or services.
Location
Describes how the firm's address was verified and whether it can be plotted on the map.
- Verified / Verified website
- A Liverpool City Region postcode or address was found and confirmed from the firm's own website.
- Geocoded
- Postcode resolved to coordinates and local authority; the firm appears on the map.
- Needs verification
- A postcode or address exists but could not be confidently matched to the LCR authorities.
- Outside LCR
- The primary address is outside Liverpool City Region. Other offices may still be listed, but the firm is not plotted on the map.
- Unknown
- No usable address or postcode has been found yet. Listed only, not mapped.
Confidence
A rating out of five evidence signals: a working website, a geocoded LCR postcode, a mapped classification, a usable address, and services evidenced from the website or a validated source.
- High
- All five signals present, including a successful website scan or validated service capabilities.
- Medium
- Three or four signals — for example the website scan failed, so services and contact details are not yet verified from the firm's own site.
- Low
- Two signals or fewer; usually an imported record with no website, no confirmed location and no evidenced services.
Known gaps in this prototype
